Drop in Centre for all youth ages 11-17

Meal Program: encourages youth to be active in the kitchen while learning essential life skills for preparing healthy meals.

Life Skills Program: teaching youth necessary life skills such as social skills, healthy habits, teaching about finances, etc.

Employment Program: helping youth create resumes, preparation for interviews, job hunting, etc.

Outreach Program: Youth are paired with an Outreach Staff Member to work on their goals with support and guidance from the Outreach Staff. Youth are referred to Be YOUth through Alberta Health Services by the Addiction and Mental Health therapists.

    BBBS offers community mentoring programs. Young people from diverse backgrounds can be matched with a positive role model. The mentoring opportunities are for young people (age 6-16) and can be part of one-to-one mentor programs or group mentor programs. These
    programs are available in schools and in the community.

    The Youth Hub is a systems navigation service where youth ages 12-24 can get connected to housing, mental wellness, financial supports, or any other resources they may need to fully participate in community life.

    24/7 Emergency Shelter

    The Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society supports individuals impacted by family violence by providing them with safe shelter, education, advocacy, and access to community resources. Our services are confidential. We support all individuals, regardless of gender, with or without children. You do not have to come into shelter to access MHWSS services and supports.

    The Medicine Hat Public Library has events for all ages including children, tweens, and teens.

    For children ages 0-10 there are early literacy programs (story time), crafts, play time, lego time, movies and more. For tweens (10-12) and teens (13-18) there are monthly special programs like “Techsplosion night”, “Anime night”, “Dungeons and Dragons”, etc.

    LEARN has programs for the entire family. Programs include:

    Conversation Circle: 8-week program for newcomers to Canada, refugees, and permanent residents. This class focus’ on speaking English for adults.

    Families Learning Together: 10-week program. For parents and children aged 2 to 5 years of age, younger children are welcome in the program as we meet people where they are at but it is intended for older children. Families spend quality time learning together doing activity centers, crafts, games, playing together, stories and songs

    Growing Child, Growing Parent. 12-week program. Children are provided quality child care programming where the developmental need of each child is met. Parents are offered techniques for improving literacy skills, strategies to help parents promote literacy with their children, parent education and assistance for adults to transition to further learning

    Cooking Up Fun: 4-week FREE program. A cooking program that focuses on reading, writing and numeracy in a meaningful way through cooking, reading and writing out recipes

    Literacy and Learning: 8-week FREE Program. The women are offered techniques for improving literacy skills, strategies to help parents promote literacy with their children, parent education and assistance for adults to transition to further learning.

    Literacy Building Blocks: 6-week FREE Program. The programs are for the parents who are in the Early Learning Programs. ELP primarily has children enrolled who have a delay of some kind. Often their parents are struggling with their children’s delays and/or they too have challenges.

    Food First: 12-week FREE Program.

    Explore Outdoors: 6-week FREE Program. For parents and children aged 2 ½ to 5 years of age children are welcome in the program as we meet people where they are at but it is intended for older children
